Artificial cornea implantation assisted with laser

GEMINI Eye Clinics newly disposes of the latest femtosecond laser Z6 (Ziemer, Switzerland). The laser is a breakthrough in femtosecond laser technology and in laser eye surgery and is designed to perform even the most complex eye surgeries.

The so called Z6 laser has several unique qualities which differentiate it from other lasers used in modern ophthalmology. The laser produces the most gentle pulses out of all the femtosecond lasers manufactured for eye surgery.
Dr. Stodulka, the head surgeon of GEMINI Eye Clinic, has used the Z6 laser as the first in the world for implantation of Boston-type artificial cornea. Implantation of artificial cornea replaces the very damaged or opaque cornea of the patient and is often the only surgery means which can restore the vision in people who have been blind for many years. The first patient treated by laser-assisted artificial Boston-type cornea implantation was a twenty-four-year old woman from Brno, Czech Republic.
